While busy with her Honours degree, she had the opportunity to meet with Breyten Breytenbach. He enjoyed the illustrations for the story of Boeitjie, and invited Tertia to live in Paris, and work on a series of illustrated short stories for him. But she decided not to go.

Unfortunately, during the time the family moved from one country to another, most of the illustrations she did for “Boeitjie” were lost.
